Cochise County voters should vote 'NO!' in the May 12th sales | Arizona Must Decertify

Cochise County voters should vote "NO!" in the May 12th sales tax hike of 0.5% to purportedly fund a new jail that the County has yet to adequately justify that it is needed. Further, nothing on the ballot requires the County to use the money on a new jail. The language allows the money to be spent on anything in the Sheriff's department.

Moreover, the election will be run with machines and an all-mail-in ballot to generate over $200 million Dollars over 25 years to be spent on anything the Sheriff wants for his department. That's over $8 million dollars per year in spending at the disposal of the Sheriff.

A Cochise citizen led lawsuit has been filed to stop the Cochise County Board of Supervisors from going forward with this election on the grounds that it violated election laws and the representation made for a new jail was misleading at townhalls and on the ballot.

Hearing date for the Emergency Temporary Restraining Order for this election is set for May 9, 2023 at 1:30PM Pacific Time at the Cochise Superior Court in Bisbee, AZ.
