The Quinquereme (Greek: πεντήρης; Latin: Quinqueremis) was a Hellenistic-Era warship which first appeared in the Athenian naval records in 324 BCE. It had a much larger displacement than the standard trireme and became the dominant warship of the Roman navy during the Punic wars (264 – 146 BCE). Open / Comment
