As pentagon confirms, one explosion occurred aboard the Moskva Missile cruiser of the Russian Navy— which was a result of a fire igniting ammunition. Russian forces evacuated all 500 personnel onto Russian Black Sea vessels in the area. The ship started making its way eastward as confirmed by the Pentagon & as claimed by the Russians. The missile cruiser Moskva sank while
being towed to its destination in a storm due to damage to the hull which was the result of a fire from the detonation of ammunition. This was
reported on Thursday in the Ministry of Defense of the Russian
Federation.
"During the towing of the Moskva cruiser to the port of destination,
the ship lost its stability due to damage to the hull received during the
fire from the detonation of ammunition. In the conditions of stormy
seas, the ship sank," the military department said.
They added that, as previously reported, the crew of the cruiser was
evacuated to the ships of the Black Sea Fleet in the area.
Earlier on Thursday, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the
quards missile cruiser of the Black Sea Fleet "Moskva" was seriously
damaged as a result of the detonation of ammunition that occurred
due to a fire, the crew was evacuated to the ships of the fleet in the
area. The ministry said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
Later, the department clarified that the cruiser remains buoyant, and
its main missile armament is not damaged. Measures were taken to
tow the cruiser to the port.
