Hubble operates from space – the ultimate mountaintop!
This view shows Mystic Mountain, located within the Carina Nebula. Captured in 2010 by Hubble, this image portrays the pinnacle of a three-light-year-tall cosmic cloud of gas and dust.
New stars are forming inside this pillar, shooting off jets of cosmic material that can be seen streaming near the top of the peak.
Located about 7,500 light-years away, this nebula resides in the southern constellation Carina.
