Coronavirus: Australian schools to remain open, despite opposition from parents and state governments.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison said earlier today that mass closing of schools would not occur, despite pressure from parents and activist groups. Nonetheless, the Secretary of the New South Wales Department of Education Mark Scott has stated that excursions, assemblies and other events would be cancelled to limit exposure.

“From Monday onwards I expect assemblies and substantial gatherings to be cancelled, along with all excursions.”, said Mark Scott.

Despite the PMs statements, the Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has said that school closures are inevitable and state and territory departments are preparing for closure by encouraging schools to prepare online learning resources, according to the Guardian.
