The Mass Rape of Germany (forwarded from channel ‘Dissecting the Reich”):

“In the German race, there is nothing but evil. Stamp out these fascist beasts once and for all. Use all force and break the racial pride of these German women. Take them as your lawful bounty and kill them as you storm forward. Kill you gallant soldiers of the Red Army.”

- Ilya Ehrenburg (Jewish Soviet)

In the advancement of the Allied Powers into Central Europe, from 1944 onwards, mass crimes, namely rape, were committed against the European women in such abundance that it is physically revolting to discover the truth regarding the events. After the war ended, Germany was divided into four occupational zones: France in the Southwest, Britain in the Northwest, the United States in the South, and the Soviet Union in the East. The women in these occupation zones experienced such rates of rape that, according to the historian William Hitchcock, women were the victims of rape up to 60-70 times a year. The conditions of life were degrading and women were the victims of the loss of war. They even earned a nickname for their merits by the Allies: “Rubble Women.” In this post, I will look to explain some of the crimes committed by each Allied Power.

Russian Rape Involvement:

The Russian rape accounts are by far the highest out of all the Allied Powers sitting at approximately 2-million recorded accounts at the minimal. As the Russians made their way to Germany from 1944, the Russians raped as many women as they could get their flesh-eating hands on. From the recorded accounts, the Russians raped an additional 70,000 in Vienna, Austria; 150,000 in Budapest, Hungary; and some loose figures exist for Romania and Bulgaria which numbers in the thousands. Between the months of April and May, 1945, Pomerania and Silesia accounted 1.4-million rape cases. Women from the East also retreated into Germany, numbering around 2-million women. During the Spring Offensive in 1945, these women from the East retreated over the Oder River in Poland. Some of them did get trapped. 20,000-known women were raped and some were sent off to Siberia. When some remaining German women returned back from Siberia after 1949, they were forbidden to speak about their experiences in the Soviet Union. The Russians had little care for how they treated women, even to the point that they would willingly rape pregnant women, like the case in which they entered Haus Dehlem, a maternity hospital in Berlin, to rape the women and the nuns.

American Rape Involvement:

Second highest to the Russians, the Americans had their pleasure in raping women with 500 cases of rapes being reported weekly. Times Magazine reported in September, 1945, that the United States government had provided soldiers with 50-million condoms per month – an astonishing amount. I do not believe this mattered. 94,000 “Occupational Children” were born in the American Zone with the result that most of these children ended up in the custody of German and Austrian welfare services. The U.S. soldiers were also not obligated to provide for these children. Women also sold themselves to these servicemen to provide food for their children. The Germans in the American Zone were barely reaching 700 calories a day so the women did what they could, as reported by the London International News Service in January, 1946.

British, French, and Colonial Rape Involvement:

Not a huge amount is known on the cases of rape causes by the French and the British. A police report from Stuttgart had noted some recorded rape accounts which were all causes by Algerian, Tunisian, and Moroccan soldiers: 1,198 in the French Zone, 385 in Constance, 600 in Bruchsal, and 500 in Freudenstadt. The rounded figure for the rape accounts in this sector is unknown. There were also 276 abortions reported by rapes in Karlsruhe but this was reported as propaganda. There have been a variety of reports from all different areas of the occupied zones but nothing seems to be as concrete as the cases reported by the Americans and the Soviets.
