I’ve just paid a visit to business owner Dianne who is the owner of a Lebanese dessert cafe Kaneffi on Chapel Street.
Dianne has a smile on her face, but inside she’s hurting. Dianne opened her business in December 2019, three months prior to our first lockdown.
Since then Dianne has experienced continued anxiety due to the unpredictable nature of lockdowns.
It’s reached the point, that it’s worthless even opening doors during the day under lockdowns, as chapel street is dead as a doorknob.
Dianne isn’t sure how much longer her business can survive.
I have prepaid for 50 coffees. If you’re a local to the area, come on down. Tell them I sent you, and the first 50 people to come say hi, gets a coffee on me.

I’m hopeful that those in a position wanting to do more, may go and return a similar act of kindness to another business who desperately needs all the support they get it.
