I have come across a lot of situations when Russian-speaking students use the term "small aviation" or "light aviation". Both of them are not correct.
"General Aviation" is the term.

General aviation is defined by ICAO as all civil aviation aircraft operations with the exception of commercial air transport or aerial work.

General aviation thus represents the "private transport".
