This is an Atlas moths, more specifically, a Hyalophora cecropia. Atlas moths are the largest moth species in the world. Female atlas moths are bigger and heavier than the males with the wingspan ranging from 10 to 12 inches and a surface area of 62 square inches. These moths are mostly nocturnal, and only live for 5-6 days.
