1 John 4:7-11, 18-20 (KJV)
⁷Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
⁸He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
⁹In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
¹⁰Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
¹¹Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
[...]
¹⁸There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
¹⁹We love him, because he first loved us.
²⁰If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

The truth is no human will ever love us as perfectly as God does. But we can get sorta close to it, and the difference between our love and what the world does should look like night and day.
1 John 4:19
"We love him, because he first loved us."
To me, this is the source of all of my love. When you can reflect on how much grace and mercy and love has been poured out onto you, you can start to feel your heart overflow with love and it just seems natural to want to pour it out onto others in a similar way.
This love is discerning though, towards our brothers and sisters in Christ. If we love them, we must also hate those who would harm them. (Reprobates, antichrists, etc)
But to focus on the lighter side- we also will feel a natural desire to do good unto each other. This is true in a general sense and should be even stronger towards those who are closer like our friends and family.
1 Timothy 5:8
"But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel."
If you ever feel down, focus on God's love, he'll never fail us.
God bless.
