1. The big story shaping global markets is the threat of a Russian invasion into Ukraine. The US warned during the weekend that a war could be imminent
2. Global markets are all down this morning on that news, and the JSE is very likely to follow suite. Gold, which is considered a safe-haven asset, is up slightly and therefore the JSE-listed gold miners may be only major local stocks to benefit
3. Additionally, Russia contributes a large proportion of global oil production, so oil prices are increasing as buyers are looking to stockpile while they still can. This is good news for the Sasol's, but bad news for the rest of us
