US sues Texas for placing buoys in the Rio Grande to stop migrants

The US Attorney's Office had given the governor of Texas, the Republican Gregg Abbott, a period that ended on Monday to remove the buoys due to the environmental and humanitarian risks for migrants that said barrier entails.

“This floating barrier poses a threat to navigation and public safety, as well as posing humanitarian risks. In addition, it has provoked diplomatic protest from Mexico, putting the foreign policy of the United States at risk," Assistant Attorney General Vanita Gupta said in a statement.
