SHE CANNOT DO WITHOUT HIM

Husbands are sometimes reluctant to remind their wives of the good they do for their families because it is a duty they fulfil, and they hope for the reward from Allāh. And to be fair, many women are grateful for the good treatment they receive from their husbands- they appreciate the provision, care, protection, honour, respect, and affection of the husband. Serving her husband happily is the wife's way of showing her appreciation.

Other women, however, are ungrateful and whatever the husband does of good is never enough. These women need to be reminded of this narration of Allāh's Messenger (ﷺ), and the husband is permitted to mention the good that he has done for her and the household in terms of purchasing food, groceries, clothes, paying the utility bills, being good to her parents, educating the children and so on. This is so that she realises her ingratitude, feels regret and embarrassment, so she repent to Allāh and apologise to her husband.
