CALLING ALL CHARLESTON COUNTY SCHOOL PARENTS!!!

CCSD Board Meeting Monday the 18th!

There is a Committee of the Whole and a Regular Board Meeting with several VERY CONCERNING Items being addressed.

First - Item 6A - Policy EBBA
The board will be recommending to remove Policy ADD Face Coverings and consolidating infectious disease policies into one, which will be modified into Policy EBBA.
This will allow the superintendent and district staff the responsibility to follow the “law” and DHEC regulations and guidelines concerning all Infectious Disease protocols for the entire district. Our school board members will no longer have a say or vote as to whether our schools “safety protocols” align with the best educational outcomes for our children.

DHEC has not updated their policy since February of 2022

(Keep in mind that DHEC follows all CDC regulations and guidelines so our district will now be listening to the Federal government instead of utilizing local health officials concerning upcoming safety protocols).

Second - Item 6B - District Policy Manual and Board Policy Manual
The board is attempting to relinquish control to the district Superintendent and staff of ALL board policies accept for those under Policy B. Please look at ALL of the policies here: [https://boardpolicyonline.com/?b=charles](https://boardpolicyonline.com/?b=charles)

By doing this the CCSD board is relinquishing control of ALL Operational Policies! This means that WE the tax payers are losing ALL power and say over publicly funded operations! Please remember that these are elected officials who are a PUBLIC ENTITY SERVICE trying to pass the buck onto CCSD employees who DO NOT have a duty to listen to the constituents of Charleston County. This means ALL policy changes within/under Policy A and C-L will no longer be subject to board approval. This is FRIGHTENING and completely OUT OF LINE!!

Note the CCSD Board members who brought this to the board for approval. That is 3 votes, leaving only 2 members to vote yes for this to be approved! PLEASE MAKE YOUR VOICES HEARD!

UNITED PARENTS OF SOUTH CAROLINA STRONGLY OPPSES THE ATTEMPT TO UNDERMINE THE ABILITY FOR PARENTS AND TEACHERS VOICES TO BE HEARD. SHIFTING THE OVERWHELMING MAJORITY OF CHARLESTON COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT POLICY DECISIONS SUCH AS CURRICULUM, SUPPORT SERVICES, FISCAL MANAGEMENT, STUDENT EDUCATIONAL, MEDICAL, DISCIPLINARY OUTCOMES, COMMUNITY-HOME RELATIONS AND MUCH MORE FROM ELECTED OFFICIALS TO CHARLESTON COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT EMPLOYEES WHO WILL HAVE NO ACCOUNTABILITY IS DEEPLY TROUBLING!
