Simple truth: We don’t value the things we don’t work for. | Bob Anderson 🇺🇸

Simple truth: We don’t value the things we don’t work for.

While in college I worked as a fast food cook, a department store clerk, a drafter (before CAD existed), and eventually enlisted in the USAFR to pay tuition and living expenses.

And I worked hard for good grades to earn scholarships, often waking up at 2:00 a.m. to do high school homework after being too tired to pick up a pencil after serving as a baseball and football manager in the afternoons.

I wouldn’t trade any of my life experiences for a free ride. The callouses that lasted for years on my feet after buying cheap shoes to work at a local Pizza Hut reminded me that I could endure.

Now, as a dad of two recent college grads I don’t want them given anything. I want them to know the same feeling I did, one of pride that comes from sacrifice and struggle. I want them to learn early to make smart decisions to control debt - and pay it off promptly.

For decades one political party has been giving away money that our nation doesn’t have. It’s almost always done more harm than good. It’s time for these politicians to stop the faux Santa Claus act. In more ways than one, we can’t afford it.
