Ukraine is like a novice boxer getting into the ring with a pro doing an exhibition match.

The novice will not pace themselves, throwing everything they have in the first couple of rounds oblivious to the merciless, paced grinding and pounding they will receive in the second half of the match.

When the second half comes, they will be exhausted, depleted, and worked methodically until nothing is left.

There's always some in the audience watching this initial flurry of blows from the novice thinking he has a chance. But those who have watched this sort of match before patiently wait for it to really begin.

An old pro doesn't get provoked by the crowd's initial cheers and jeers, and defers instead to experience, training, fundamentals, and most important of all, patience.

An armed conflict like in Ukraine has no precedent, but fundamentals still apply.
