SpaceX CEO Elon Musk told employees that the company is unlikely to go public until 2025, once again extending the expected timeline for an initial public offering. He said Starlink needs to be "quietly floating" with a "high degree of predictability" before going public.

Musk stressed, as he has done before, that the Starlink business needs to be "at a calm voyage" with "a high degree of predictability." At this point, "I think a spin-off [of Starlink] as a public company could make a lot of sense," Musk added.
