Lake Wonchi has Been Named the World's Best Tourist Village

Lake Wonchi has been named the best tourist village in the world by the United Nations Tourism Organization.

The swampy lake, which shows the sky as a photograph, the calm and the stagnant water, attracts the attention of the World Tourism Organization.

The volcanic lake is one of the three projects in 'Dine for Ethiopia' programme that raised 4.2 billion birr for the three projects – in Gorgora, Wonchi and Koysha. On March Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has launched the construction of Dine for Ethiopia’s Wenchi project alongside the volcanic lakes of Wenchi and Dendi in central Oromia.
