Hi All, thank you for participating in the previous poll.
41% of the votes are in favor of
1 - 3 minutes. We all know the weightage of the answer to this question - "
Tell me about yourself"
You shouldn't tell just one line answer. A story should follow. You should tell what is not there in your resume. Your story should contain a failure followed by a transformational lesson. And then go on to add the other things about yourself like - education, skills, goals, hobbies etc. But the story will be more impactful.
When recruiter asks you to tell him about yourself, the answer should not more than 3 minutes. For example, this is a story for a sales position;
"I was not the best sales engineers at XYZ company because I was very frustrated. In my intial days,I was hoping that I would get help from some of the successful colleagues to improve my sales skills. But I observed most of them using alternate non-ethical methods to get the numbers. I was not comfortable doing the same. I kept looking for a better solution and then I chanced upon a new selling system which completely transformed my life. Since then I have practiced a new selling method with great success without compramising on quality & ethics. My sales are up and the clients are happy. This experience has shown that the key to success, is to be a lifetime student."
KudosWall coaches to develop a one liner for this question and then add a story. Learn different stories for different domains and be prepared to face the interview.
