ApeCoin (APE), the Ethereum-based token of the Bored Ape Yacht Club ecosystem, is up 15.7% over the past 24 hours and is currently changing hands at a two-week high of $5.19, according to CoinMarketCap. While APE’s recent price action can be seen as a part of a broader market recovery that took the price of Bitcoin above $20,000.

More specifically, the Ape Foundation recently outlined its recommendations for a new election process for the project's decentralized autonomous organization (DAO). The Ape Foundation current members are Alexis Ohanian, the Reddit co-founder, Amy Wu of FTX Ventures, Maaria Bajwa, Principal at Sound Ventures, Yat Siu, chairman of Animoca Brands, and Dean Steinbeck, president at Horizen Labs. It sounds like a regular day on Crypto Twitter: a Bored Ape Yacht Club avatar chats with a Cool Cat or Doodle, with World of Women or Robotos avatars in the mix, as well. But it’s also the premise of a new reality show parody called The R3al Metaverse, a show starring characters based on NFTs from those notable collections. It’s a scripted video series that begins with the premise of MTV’s The Real World—but instead of actors, the housemates are Ethereum-based NFT avatars.

The R3al Metaverse hails from Invisible Universe, a tech startup that CEO Tricia Biggio described to Decrypt as an “internet-first animation studio.” Invisible Universe’s backers include Seven Seven Six, the VC firm from Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian—who owns the Bored Ape on which the show’s character Pete is based. The startup has previously created animated characters in collaboration with celebrities.

For the first time since last June, the market failed to hit $1 billion in trades. NFT users have now resorted to liquidating their investments, anticipating better market prospects. A new report by DappRadar, shared with CryptoPotato, suggests that this trend of “trading blocking” will continue till the crypto winter has passed.

In fact, four projects owned by the NFT giant: CryptoPunks, Bored Ape Yacht Club, Mutant Ape Yacht Club, and Otherdeed for OtherSide, alone represented over $160 million traded in July. DappRadar’s latest blockchain industry report highlighted the hyper-centralization of activity in blue-chip NFT collections that continue to retain most of their value. The document showed that the NFT market is currently contracting, with its trading volumes decreasing by 25% MoM.

Singapore has decided to strengthen and broaden its crypto regulatory framework amid the crypto downturn.This move by MAS comes after witnessing the industry’s meltdown. Ravi Menon, Managing Director of MAS, is of the opinion that investing in cryptocurrencies remains extremely risky.

The tightening of the scope of digital asset regulations is now going to look into more activities and also rigidify retail investors’ access to the virtual currency according to the recent rules.These rules shall be proposed soon over the next few months. Additionally, MAS is considering to consult on its proposed measures around the months of September and October of 2022. As per the launch of MAS’s annual report, the main focus area of regulation within and even outside of Singapore has remained money laundering and terrorism financing.
