The American healthcare system is absolutely awful. You have to pay hundreds to thousands per month to pay hundreds or thousands per appointment. And there's so much fraud and waste if you actually pay attention. I once got billed for the same blood work, $400 each time, once by the doctor who ordered it, then again by the phlebotomist. I once was in the hospital, during my cycle, and told the nurses I was not sexually active, and they still billed me for a $150 pregnancy test "to make sure." If you're actually on Medicaid or Medicare, the doctors will advertise they accept the plans, but don't, so the only way to get treatment is to to the hospital, thus driving up the costs even more. Literally the only way to get reasonably priced, accessible healthcare is to have a job that provides healthcare, but good luck with that with the emergence of the gig economy and everyone being their own "boss babe."
