We are like two uneven pieces of different glasses
Desperately hoping to meld our jagged edges together
Thinking they will become hale and whole once again
Refusing to accept that all of our effort might be in vain

We were broken at different times, in different ways, for different reasons
But that shouldn't stop us from blunting the edges, and filling the cracks
As if your pain can soothe mine, as if your scars can silence my cries
As if we didn't know, we were comforting ourselves with lies

We thought that just because we were both hopeless souls
We belonged together, even though we lived in different worlds
Our misery might have seemed the same to one looking from the outside
But none of us understand what nightmares we face or the demons we hide

Hope is a tricky thing, and we fell right into her trap
We, in our naivity thought we had a chance at love
We expected that, just because we had two broken souls
We could take each other's remaining pieces and fill the holes
