My "Bitcoin" Position
I dont understand all of it.
What I see is the world's understanding of money collapsing or changing or both.
In this change, the world - currently with a mind organized around money for trust and exchange and value - will undergo a CHANGE.
That CHANGE will be like the hyenas of the world feasting on the remains of TRUST. Everyone will be trying to get theirs and carve out their domain. There will be a market for people to get other people to trust them in a way that no one alive has ever seen. This will, from a theological view, create opportunity for new methods of worship. Which new money will people worship?
My thoughts on Bitcoin have nothing to do with Bitcoin. I specified Bitcoin to give people something individual to focus on. I could've easily said gold. I could've easily said silver. I can just as easily say "barter." Chicken eggs. Timber. Ammo. Etc Etc.
The people focusing on the MEDIUM of exchange are missing that EXCHANGE will be the issue at play.
I'm saying Christians should be ready to communicate the EXCHANGE is an opportunity for the gospel and not arguing about the MEDIUM of exchange.
The world will argue this or that crypto. Folks will say "barter" and/or "trade." The entire world will be scrambling to adjust its trust in things and in ways that it currently is not.
This, my entire point, is the opportunity for Christians, who don't serve mammon, to point to Christ & His provision as the way for 1) salvation and 2) provision. God's wisdom is better than earthly wisdom. #LiveLocal has been my way of communicating a Biblical way of living for the past several years. In this specific issue, I'm saying that as the world loses its trust in the way it's largely been trustful in for decades - longer than anyone reading this has been alive - that Christians have an evangelism opportunity to speak to this issue of TRUST on a level that hasn't been possible for as long as currency has existed in its modern form.
If this doesn't make sense, then I'll go back to the drawing board. My focus is bringing the gospel forward. Many Christians today may not see opportunities for the gospel. I don't want to generalize here more than necessary.
If we are living the Christian life we should be living, then we will be both resilient and evangelistic for when the world's ways crumble. That is my point.
Has nothing to do with Bitcoin per se, but that alternatives to what is currently trusted should not be seen as a discussion of which currency is better, but Who to put your Trust in. And if you're living as you should, then you'll be in a position to bless people in the earthly realm, and God can use that as an apologetic for the gospel.
