2022-06-08 19:12:10 The Daily Decade 2.0
Series 6, Episode 5

Today's Daily Decade, on the Feast of S. Hedwig of Poland, offers prayers for Isaac and Rob, one of whom has apostatized from the Faith and the other whom is weighed down by sorrow and disbelief in the loving God. We offer prayers to St. Dominic on their behalf, that the falsehoods whispered by the devils shall find deaf ears and the joy of knowing the love of God fill their lives.

Today's reflection considers the Ascension into Heaven, and why we have a great grace of being able from the beginning to receive the fullness of Christ that His Apostles were only given after His Ascension.

God love you!

When Charlemagne was crowned Holy Roman Emperor, he published these as a list of Knightly Virtues.

Love God.
Love your neighbour.
Give alms to the poor.
Entertain strangers.
Visit the sick.
Be merciful to prisoners.
Do ill to no man, nor consent unto such.
Forgive as ye hope to be forgiven.
Redeem the captive.
Help the oppressed.
Defend the cause of the widow and orphan.
Render righteous judgement.
Do not consent to any wrong.
Persevere not in wrath.
Shun excess in eating and drinking.
Be humble and kind.
Serve your liege lord faithfully.
Do not steal.
Do not perjure yourself, nor let others do so.
Envy, hatred and violence separate men from the Kingdom of God.
Defend the Church and promote her cause.

2022-06-07 10:23:00 And when Moses entered into the tabernacle of the covenant, to consult the oracle, he heard the voice of one speaking to him from the propitiatory, that was over the ark between the two cherubims, and from this place he spoke to him. - Numbers 7:89

What does it mean that Moses often enters the tabernacle and comes out, except that he, whose mind is raised up in contemplation, must go out to deal with the affairs of the weak? Inside he contemplates the mysteries of God. Outside he bears the burdens of carnal persons. And Moses, who always has recourse to the tabernacle in matters of doubt and consults the Lord in the ark of the covenant, undoubtedly offers an example to officeholders. When in their public lives they are unsure of what to decide, they should always ponder in their minds, as in the tabernacle. They would seek advice, as it were, at the ark of the covenant, if they study the pages of sacred Scripture in their hearts when they deal with a doubt. Truth himself, manifested to us by taking on our humanity, devoted himself to prayer on the mountain and performed miracles in the cities. Thus he showed good pastors a model to imitate. They should desire what is highest in contemplation but care for the needs of the weak by their compassion. Charity rises up to the heights in a marvelous way when it mercifully turns to the depths of the neighbor’s needs. When it descends in kindness to the lowest, it returns in vigor to the highest. 2022-06-06 19:10:15 The Daily Decade 2.0
Series 6, Episode 4

Today's Daily Decade, on the Feast of St. Norbert of Xanten, offers prayers for Gregory, the father of one of our listeners, who is struggling after being named chief inheritor of his parents' estate, dealing with the stresses and sorrows of that compounded with family members who after years of absence have returned to act as accusers seeking some of the inheritance. We offer prayers to Ss. Mary and Martha of Bethany to strengthen him in this time of sorrow and guard him from the worldlings who seek their reward in this life, that he might reap the treasures of Heaven.

Today's reflection recalls the central characters of the Visitation, and the way in which the Blessed Mother and S. Elizabeth manifest that greatest of all virtues, namely humility, and how we can do the same, giving glory to God by way of offering Him those blessings He sends us.

God love you!

2022-06-06 15:17:57 Then shall the hair of the consecration of the Nazarite, be shaved off before the door of the tabernacle of the covenant: and he shall take his hair, and lay it upon the fire, which is under the sacrifice of the peace offerings. - Numbers 6:18

What does it mean that Nazirites cultivate their hair, except that they cultivate pleasing thoughts through their lives of continence? What does it mean that, when the time of his vow is fulfilled, the Nazirite is bidden to shave his head and to put his hair in the sacrificial fire? It means that we reach the height of perfection when we have so conquered external vices that we restrain even superfluous thoughts in our minds. And to burn these thoughts in sacrificial fire means to burn them in the flame of divine love, so that one’s whole heart burns with the love of God. We burn up our superfluous thoughts and consume the hair of the Nazirite, as it were, in perfect devotion. Exposition of the Old and New Testament, Numbers

This is Deborah Samuel

Hundreds of Muslim men dragged her from her room, stoned her and set her on fire because they accused her of criticising Islam

They recorded the murder and laughed as they killed her

Western journalists mostly ignored the story because she was a Christian
