Fast fashion moves at breathtaking speed. Designs are noticed at catwalks, copied, mass-produced in sweatshops, and exported around the world. Fast fashion trends are planned to go obsolete. The manufacturers want customers hooked on to the latest trends so they will keep buying clothes in a frenzy. Since it’s built to be temporary, fast fashion takes an invisible toll on one’s personal finances too.

The way out is to invest in slow fashion. Slow fashion is a belief that clothes should be built to last. Slow fashion rejects the “low margins, high volume” biz model of fast fashion, and so comes with a higher price tag. But the premium paid upfront is more than earned back with the clothes’ longevity.
