ECB announces launch of independent Cricket Regulator
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have introduced the Cricket Regulator, an independent entity tasked with overseeing compliance with cricket regulations, enforcing adherence to those rules, and providing relevant information and education. This independent cricket regulatory board, separate from the ECB, will supervise the Cricket Regulator.
The Cricket Regulator assumes responsibility for various areas that were previously under the ECB's jurisdiction, including safeguarding, integrity (covering anti-corruption, misconduct, and anti-doping), and anti-discrimination. The establishment of the Cricket Regulator follows the recommendations outlined in the report by the Independent Commission for Equity in Cricket (ICEC). The ECB emphasized that the launch of the Cricket Regulator aims to enhance independence in cricket's regulatory processes, ensuring a clear separation between this aspect and the rest of the ECB.
