2021-05-11 00:40:43 Fresh Red Bull Off-Road Junior Team line-up heads to Rally Andalucia

The four crews at the controls of the team’s custom built OT3 machine at this week’s Rally Andalucia are; Seth Quintero (USA) / Dennis Zenz (GER), Cristina Gutiérrez (ESP) / Francois Cazalet (FRA), Mitch Guthrie Jr. (USA) / Ola Floene (NOR) plus new additions Guillaume de Mevius (BEL) / Tom Colsoul (BEL).

26-year-old Guillaume de Mevius joins the team after strong results in the T3 category at last year’s Baja Portalegre as well as both Hail Bajas. The Belgian also has experience in the WRC and will be linking up with his countryman Tom Colsoul. Although De Mevius will be making his debut for the Junior Team this week he will feel right at home. The all Belgian crew will be racing the Belgian built OT3 by Overdrive as they look to secure success for their nation.

Before he was old enough to hold a driver’s licence Seth Quintero had already won pretty much all the off-road races there are to win in the United States. Still only 18 years old, Quintero holds the record of the Dakar’s youngest stage winner.
29-year-old Cristina Gutiérrez became the first female stage winner in T3 category.

Mitch Guthrie Jr. has driven two editions of the Dakar as part of the Junior Team and now the 24-year-old is looking forward to competing in his first full FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Rallies.

2021-05-07 22:54:36 Van Loon is looking forward to the Andalucia Rally

The Andalucia Rally is the first Cross Country Rally for Erik van Loon and Sébastien Delaunay in 2021 after two Bajas and a circuit race. In a competitively strong field of participants, Van Loon wants to prove that he belongs in the top five. Van Loon cannot wait for the start of the second edition of this rally.

Last year, the Andalucia Rally was the reopening of the Cross Country. It was the first rally of the season at the time and it was a tough one right away. Now it looks very different and we have already covered quite a few kilometers. I am really looking forward to returning to Andalusia, it was a very nice rally with a lot of variety. It will be really different from Jordan and Saudi Arabia, the organization has incorporated several new pieces into the stages. We are really looking forward to it!

2021-05-07 19:43:52 Vladimir Vasilyev: amazing line-up of participants at the Andalusia Rally 2021

The current winner of the Baja World Cup Vladimir Vasilyev plans to take part in the Andalusia Rally 2021 for the first time on his upgraded BMW X3. Alexey Kuzmich will be his co-driver in this race. Vladimir answered the questions of the Cross-Country Rally Telegram channel about his last race "Gold of Kagan" and about the upcoming Andalusia Rally.

I have never been to Andalusia and don't know what it's like, when we come there - we will see. In Spain, I only participated in the Baja Aragon many times. We go to Andalusia in a practically new built BMW X3, which I drove at the Baja "Russia - Northern Forest". I was very impressed by the list of participants of the Andalusia Rally - an amazing line-up: 120 cars and such strong competitors - Nasser Al-Attiyah, Carlos Sainz, Yazeed Al Rajhi. I think the race will be very interesting.

2021-05-07 17:30:26 Andalucia Rally 2021 VALIDATED !

From 12 to 16 May, just seven months after its creation, the Andalucía Rally is back! Described by its creator David Castera as halfway between “a small rally and a big baja”.

204 vehicles signed up for the Andalucía Rally 2021. Precisely 117 cars and 87 bikes – twice the number of cars compared to last October!

It is with the goal of taking part in the next Dakar that 66 ‘rookies’ have entered the Challenge Road to Dakar (70% of the bikes, 46% of the quads and 36% of the SSVs)

27 different nationalities will be on the start line of the Andalucía Rally 2021 to discover a series of loops leading out from Villamartin.

David Castera:

We wanted to create a more homogeneous route with less high-speed zones. We went looking for hills to offer more technical specials. Overall the terrain is more varied. We will also take the competitors further afield, all the way to the province of Cordóba. We have found 862 kilometres of new track, for a total of 1086 kilometres of special. By way of a comparison, it is the equivalent of crossing France off-road. Achieving that in Europe with such easy geographic accessibility is an exploit.
