2022-02-10 09:03:09 During this episode, we will recount an experiment that proves mycelium is intelligent. But how is it that we ever disassociated intelligence from nature? To answer my own query, I can observe that science is a purely materialistic way of thinking, which side-steps ideas of spirit, by design. But if we get back to older ways to consider the natural world using a spiritual lens, we will soon ask “what other parts of nature are intelligent”? For that matter, we might ask “do the older elemental ways of thinking offer renewed comprehension in such matters”? Is fire or water or air intelligent? It may be that another question will help comprehension in this matter. Who or what animated all that we can observe, and how is it perpetual in its spirited motions? Last question…if we know there are mineral, plant, and animal kingdoms, should one more be added to include mycelium? It seems to include aspects of both the plant and animal kingdom, and yet refuses to fit neatly within either category. Maybe the categories are the problem, as it is clear that mushrooms exist. It is clear that they are intelligent and serve as the networking element in natural systems which could not exist otherwise. While the kingdom of fungi is mostly unheralded, it should not be. It deserves recognition between plant and animal when describing natural kingdoms. After all, everything in this world is connected, including you and me.

In this world there are still a couple of races that have a legitimate claim to being the oldest continuous culture in our world. The Bushmen of Africa are among these ancient races. If the ultimate and highest truths of this world are held in nature, then it is the Bushmen who have the highest comprehension of what we have forgotten about this creation, its rules and perfect spiritual systems. Our synthetic era has all but ruined their way of life, which has preserved natural knowledge into the 21st century, as we call it. If these ancient cultures are brought to an end, the loss to us all is beyond comprehension and a catastrophic erasure of spiritual knowing at the highest levels – hard won, from time immemorial. In 1980 a movie called “The Gods Must Be Crazy” included a monologue at the opening which describes the difference between modern materialistic living, and the “way” of the Bushmen. And while it falls short, as movies do, it also pre-echoes what is happening to the Bushmen now. To be fair, it is happening to all of us, and the loss of our knowledge is on the brink as well. But what we know and what they know, is a bit like night and day. Spiritually, technical life styles exist after the Summer Solstice, while the nature-bound way exists after the winter solstice, if we use the foundational truths of our creation to illustrate the point. When the days get shorter and the nights get long, all of us experience growing with darkness.
