here's the thing, people be out there using Japanese/Arabic/Russian in their bio or pinned post for the aesthetic way, please don't turn a language into an aesthetic. it’s not cute or scary or trendy or whatever vibe you're tryna go, for me. it’s straight misuses and abuses disrespectful. UNLESS you actually speak those language, or if you take time to learn the language word for word, that’s great! however if you using it as an aesthetic for your account and use simple google translate.... i'm so sick of it.
just imo tho idk i just find it weird.. like why do you need to write a random phrase in a diff language?? creativity??? okayy, but what makes you think it’ll look any better in another language rather than write some meaningful in your own language?? well, at first, when i saw people have a certain language that's in their display name or bio, i always assume that they can speak that language, till i got my issues, i can tell, y'all start treating those languages like the new fonts instead of it being ableist. you're just using a whole language for an aesthetic purposes and that includes a cultural appropriation. i'm not trying to be offensive but here i am being assertive and it's just kinda odd to be objectifying a culture like that and some people may find it offensive, unsafe, uncomfortable, i cannot say how it may be but there's been some issues around the topic lately.
and anyways, this isn't targeted or aimed at anyone in particular also this doesn't go for attack anyone who i already know is multilingual or is practicing another language, but like if you're using anything from another language in your bio or post bc of the aesthetic and u don’t know what it means, stop doing that?? there isn't anything severely wrong with it as long as it isn't for mocking the language itself BUT you better at least understand what it means ;)
