If the universe is expanding, then what's it expanding into? What's on the other side? Does the universe even have an edge?

All of the distant galaxies in the universe are moving away from each other. But there is no center they are expanding from. And every region of space is being stretched.

Think of a balloon and as it inflates, the surface stretches. Every point on that surface moves away from every other point. A tiny being could walk on the expanding balloon forever and never find the edge. For the tiny being, the balloon is everything.

If OUR universe is everything, then it isn't expanding into anything. It's just expanding. Nothing may be on the other side except the realm of misconceptions.
