At the end of 1935 Antoine de Saint-Exupéry attempted to compete for the 150000 franc prize in the Paris-Saigon-Paris air race. On December 30, the plane crashed in the Libyan desert. The pilot and his mechanic André Prévaux survived by a miracle. On the fourth day in the desert, a Bedouin found and rescued the dehydrated Frenchmen.
