The chief justice dines with the head of government; the night before his verdict on the government.

The judge's predecessor states: the government is destroying the rule of law and the protection of fundamental rights.

State financed media keeps quiet about it all.

Meanwhile, the interior minister agitates against government critics. Her police officers beat them, kick in their doors and threaten them and their families with firearms.

The UN commissioner for torture denounces this police violence and demands a statement from the government. He is ignored.

Instead, the interior minister and her intelligence chief announce that they will fight critics as "right-wing extremists." The government believes itself to be surrounded by "more enemies of the state than ever before."

The majority of police officers, soldiers, prosecutors and judges remain silent. Asked about their conscience, they take refuge in relativizations and denial.

Germany 2022 is a nightmare. Again.
