Some phrases with " Get "

Get together ( often with ) – to meet with someone to do or spend time with.

Get on ( often with ) – like each other and friendly

Get on ( often with ) – to continue something especially work.

Get behind ( often with ) – You have not done as much as work or as have not paid as much as payment

Can’t / could not get over – be very surprised or shocked that sth has happened or true.

Get by – have just enough money to pay for the things you need, but nothing more

Get around / round – to find a solution or way for dealing or avoiding the problem.

Get around / round – do something you intended to do for a long time.

What are you getting at? – What do you mean ( when someone is speaking indirectly )

Get away with – do something successfully even though it is not the best way of doing it.

Some idioms for describing someone ( negative ones )

Black sheep of the family – The most different or odd one out in a group

As David does not study hard like his other brothers he is considered the black sheep of his family.

Bull in a china shop –To be extremely clumsy

Whenever Roy is in the kitchen he breaks something, so his mother says that he's like a bull in a china shop!

A leopard cannot change his spot – We cannot change the nature of things.
