[ADDITIONAL ANTI-SCAM MEASURES] DBS will be introducing additional measures to bolster the security of digital banking, in view of the recent spate of SMS-phishing scams.
Starting Friday (21 January 2022), DBS will stop sending non-essential SMSes. DBS will send only essential SMSes to our retail and wealth customers until further notice. They include security and trade notifications, and OTP authentication - these will have no clickable links.
These measures are in addition to the industry measures (pictured above), which will be implemented within two weeks.
Longer-term measures are being evaluated for implementation in the coming months. We will continue to work closely with the Monetary Authority of Singapore, the Singapore Police Force, and the Infocomm Media Development Authority. Customer vigilance also remains of paramount importance as scammers are quick to adapt in targeting unsuspecting consumers.
