2016-05-13 16:27:10 Dua upon the completion of the Qur'an


Q: Generally we hear people mention that Duaas are accepted upon the completion of the Qur'an. Is this correct? If yes, then after which type of khatam will duaas be accepted? When one completes the Qur'an individually or when the khatam takes place in a madrasa jalsa?

A: Duas are answered after any khatam. Whether the khatam is done individually or in taraweeh salaah or with the completion of a student’s hifz. Whichever way the completion has taken place duas are answered.

No one likes to say about themselves that they're not dependable or lack discipline, but actions speak louder than words, and being late for salah is the first warning that you are on a slippery slope towards being chronically late in everything else in your life.

If you are wondering why there is a delay in your sustenance, in your marriage, in your work, in your health, look into your salah: are you delaying it?

Al-Hasan Al-Basri rahimahullah said:
“When salah is the least of your concerns, then what is your most important concern? As much as you fix your salah, your life will be fixed. Did you not know that salah was equated with Success: ‘Come to Prayer, Come to Success.’ How can you ask Allah s.w.t. for success when you are not responding to His right upon you?” Open / Comment

2016-04-08 10:59:28 Sayyidi wa sanadi Mufti Mohammed Taqi Usmani (Allah preserve & protect him) stresses the need for being consistent with the daily recitations (wird) as instructed. To do so effectively, he advises that one should have a practical daily schedule. The time and place for routine practices should be fixed. Both of these have spiritual benefit (barakah) of their own.

The failure do so results in missing thewird. This is unacceptable for a seeker.

It must be remembered that consistency in daily practices is the path to spiritual progress.

Alhamdulillah, Hadhrat Mufti Ebrahim Desai Saheb Hafidhahullah officially commenced the chapter of Economics of Bukhari Shareef on Monday night. The program was very well attended. There were people from all around Durban and other surrounding towns as well. The audience were attentive and many were taking notes.
 
Mufti Saheb commenced the chapter by explaining the importance of doing business. He stated that economic strength and political strength are competing powers. He cited the example of the present political campaign in the US.
 
Mufti Saheb than presented some inspiring incidents of Imam Bukhari's financial dealings and his taqwa in such issues.
 
The first verse of the chapter of economics is on the prohibition of interest. In order to understand the depth of the verse, Mufti Saheb posed about seven thought provoking questions related to interest:


1.    What is the position of a deposit in a bank? Is it a loan or is it an amanah? He explained the reason for the difference.

2.    Is it permissible to be an agent to arrange loans and receive commission?

3.    Is it permissible to use interest on deposits in the attorneys trust account for transfer duty?

4.    The concept of Hire Purchase

5.    Use of the paying terminal and swiping of credit cards.


Mufti Saheb then explained a brief history on interest and explained how Abbas' (RadhiyAllahu Anhu) interest of 44kg of gold (approx. R22m) was forfeited. Also take into consideration the inflation rate of 1500 years. What a huge amount!
 
Lastly, Mufti Saheb presented some inspiring ashar of our akabireen on greed of this world and the need to change our attitude.
