Im not usually one for makeup, but i used to work in a store that sold similar things.
Did you know you can indefinitely use one of these containers? Its really simple.
Most compacted powder makeup has no reaction to alcohol.
So what you do is you clean up the compact you want, ensure there isnt any powder in there.
Let it dry, then pour a little rubbing alcohol in there. 99% is best but hard to get ahold of unless you go to costume shops or beauty supply.
Next, you take your full compact of the desired colour and chop it up into big chuncks.
Carefully, move the big chunks into the desired container. If the new one is smaller, then be extra careful.
Either way, just get all the powder bits in there and in the alcohol.
You want just enough alcohol to make it all goopy, but not pourable. Think biscuits, not stew.
Then you want to GENTLY chop chop chop all the chunks into the alcohol so it becomes a uniform thick paste. Be gentle and go slow otherwise you'll get pigment everywhere. Huge mess, a pain to clean, trust me, you dont want it.
Next, you press the power. With a flat-ish spoon, a butter knife, the butt of a candle, anything that it wont stick to. This is why you dont want it to be too wet. And dont press too hard or you'll crack it again.
Then you leave it open so the alcohol will evaporate! Then bam! Freshly sterilized, newly homed makeup in the container of your dreams. :)
