Dear students,
After the successful run of Reading Marathons, which took place in the September of 2020, I decided to launch
a new Reading Marathon in a new format. The format is new in that this time you get to work on your
Listening skills as well.
It is obvious that these two sections can raise your overall score and it is easier to make progress in these two sections in a shorter span of time than in the other two sections. So far, many of my students have scored perfect scores in these two sections. For example, both Sherdor and Jahongir
scored 8.5 and 9.0 in Listening and Reading tests respectively, allowing them to get an overall score of 7.5. These are just two examples. There are so many other students whose results I shared on the channel, and they all cracked these two sections of the test.
At 7 am, I send a full-length Listening test, audios for the test, a reading passage, an article, and google forms for both listening and reading tests. You complete both a full listening test and a reading passage and check your answers using google forms. (I will make a video explaining how to check your answers using the google forms). After completing the tests, you are expected to read the article as part of your journey to become a great reader. At 2 pm, I will send a video explanation for either of the 4 parts of the Listening test, breaking down every answer choice so that you understand why the correct answer is correct, and how they use distractors in every part. Usually Listening video walkthrough is going to be on either Part 2 or Part 3. But every now and then it can be on Part 4 as well. You will also be sent a transcript of the listening test, with the lines of correct answers highlighted in the document. As for Reading, I will be sending you a video walkthrough of the passage, words you need to know from the text with their definitions, and example sentences for the new words you learned from that passage.
So basically, in one day, you
- Complete a full listening test
- Complete a reading passage
- Read an article adapted from IELTS’ go-to publications
I send you
- a video explanation of one part of the Listening test
- a video walkthrough of the Reading passage
- a list of new words with definitions and examples
- a transcript with the corresponding lines of the correct answers highlighted
