DPR MFA statement regarding the evacuation of foreign ships crews from Mariupol

After liberation of the Mariupol port one of the priority tasks for military personnel of the Donetsk People's Republic and the Russian Armed Forces was the immediate evacuation of crews of foreign ships that had previously been blocked by Ukrainian armed formations. On April 11, 47 ship crew members were evacuated, including citizens of Russia, Azerbaijan, Egypt, Syria and Ukraine.

Today the DPR People's Militia together with the Russian Armed Forces evacuated 15 crew members of the “Tzarevna” cargo ship: among them 14 citizens of the Republic of Bulgaria and one citizen of Ukraine.

At the moment, foreign sailors are in Donetsk, the Republic’s authorities provided them with all the necessary support and food, as well as placed them in a hotel.

The DPR Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in turn, began to implement all necessary procedures to organize the departure of evacuated sailors to their countries.

Moreover, the DPR MFA employees, as the necessary documents are processed, deliver sailors to the territory of the Russian Federation for further return to their homeland.

We are grateful to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the FSB Border Guard Service and the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for prompt assistance in this process. Together with all our Russian colleagues, we intend to do everything possible to return all the citizens evacuated from the Mariupol port home, to their relatives and friends as soon as possible.
