​ Statement by the official representative of the DPR People’s Militia on the situation on April 17, 2022

Since the beginning of the day, the enemy has fired more than 150 shells and mines from 122-mm multiple launch rocket systems BM-21 "Grad", 152-mm and 122-mm cannon artillery and 82-mm mortars.

The areas of 7 settlements of the Republic were under shelling. As a result of the Ukrainian aggression, 2 civilians were injured. 12 residential buildings, 1 civilian infrastructure facility and 4 vehicle were damaged.

The servicemen of the Donetsk People's Republic, together with the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, continue to liberate the settlements of our Republic from Ukrainian invaders.

Since the beginning of the day, our servicemen have destroyed 37 Ukrainian nationalists, 3 firing position for a 120mm mortar, 1 armored vehicle and 2 cargo vehicles.

Unfortunately, there were losses among our fighters. Over the past day, in the struggle for independence, 2 defenders of the Donetsk People's Republic died in the line of military duty and 16 comrades were injured.

We express our sincere condolences to the families and friends of the victims.

On the night of April 11-12, a group of servicemen of the 36th marine brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine attempted to break out of the blocked plant named after Ilyich in Mariupol.

The special forces unit of the Donetsk People's Republic prevented this breakthrough. During the battle, up to 50 servicemen were destroyed, of which five were senior officers of the brigade, another 42 surrendered.

During the inspection of the battle a body of the commander of the 36th marine brigade Colonel Vladimir Anatolievich Baranyuk, his personal belongings and weapons were found among the dead.
