Statement by the official representative of the DPR People’s Militia on the situation on May 16, 2022
Since the beginning of the day, the enemy has fired more than 150 shells and mines from 122-mm multiple launch rocket systems BM-21 "Grad", 122-mm cannon artillery and 120-mm mortars.
The areas of 6 settlements of the Republic were under shelling. As a result of the Ukrainian aggression a civilian was injured. A residential building and a civilian infrastructure facility were damaged.
Materials on the fact of wounding civilians and damage to infrastructure will be transferred to the DPR General Prosecutor's Office for inclusion in criminal cases initiated against the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The servicemen of the Donetsk People's Republic, together with the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, continue to liberate the settlements of our Republic from Ukrainian invaders. Since the beginning of the day, our servicemen have destroyed 22 Ukrainian nationalists, 3 firing positions for 120mm mortars, 2 armored vehicles and 2 cargo vehicles. An IFV and an armored car were captured.
Unfortunately, there were losses among our fighters. Over the past day, in the struggle for independence, 3 defenders of the Donetsk People's Republic died in the line of military duty and 19 comrades were injured.
We express our sincere condolences to the families and friends of the victims.
I would like to give special attention to defenders of the Donetsk People's Republic, whose courage and bravery in a fight against Ukrainian nationalists will become an example for future generations.
On March 17, 2022, in the area of Avdeevka industrial zone, a commander of the operative-dressing platoon, a doctor of the medical troop of the 1st separate motor rifle brigade, lieutenant of the medical service Fadeeva Yulia, risking her life, evacuated 4 military personnel of the brigade from the battlefield under heavy enemy fire. She provided them with the first medical help, which saved their lives, showing the stamina and courage of a Russian woman.
