Statement by the official representative of the DPR People’s Militia on the situation on May 17, 2022
Since the beginning of the day, the enemy has fired more than 160 shells and mines from 122-mm multiple launch rocket systems BM-21 "Grad", 152 and 122-mm cannon artillery, as well as 82 and 120-mm mortars.
The areas of 8 settlements of the Republic were under shelling. As a result of the Ukrainian aggression a civilian was injured. 4 residential buildings and 4 civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged.
Materials on the fact of wounding civilians and damage to infrastructure will be transferred to the DPR General Prosecutor's Office for inclusion in criminal cases initiated against the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The servicemen of the Donetsk People's Republic, together with the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, continue to liberate the settlements of our Republic from Ukrainian invaders. Since the beginning of the day, our servicemen have destroyed 29 Ukrainian nationalists, 8firing points, an IFV, an armored vehicle and a truck. A 152-mm self-propelled artillery mount 2S3 "Acacia", acommand and staff armored vehicle and a field artillery depot were captured.
5 servicemen of the 25th airborne brigade and 10 servicemen of the 54th mechanized brigade voluntarily laid down their arms and went over to the side of the Donetsk People's Republic.
Unfortunately, there were losses among our fighters. Over the past day, in the struggle for independence, 5 defenders of the Donetsk People's Republic died in the line of military duty and 22 comrades were injured.
