Statement by the official representative of the DPR People’s Militia on the situation on May 23, 2022
Since the beginning of the day, the enemy has fired more than 100 shells and mines from 122-mm multiple launch rocket systems BM-21 "Grad", 122-mm cannon artillery, as well as 82 and 120-mm mortars.
The areas of 5 settlements of the Republic were under shelling. As a result of the Ukrainian aggression 2 civilians were injured. 3 residential buildings and 3 civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged.
Materials on the fact of wounding civilians and damage to infrastructure will be transferred to the DPR General Prosecutor's Office for inclusion in criminal cases initiated against the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Military personnel of the Russian Federation and the Donetsk People's Republic are conducting successful joint operations in the Donetsk direction in the area of Avdeevka, Marinka and Gorlovka to destroy the fortifications of Ukrainian nationalists. Since the beginning of the day, our servicemen have destroyed 33 Ukrainian nationalists, 8 firing positions, 2 tanks, a command vehicle and an armored vehicle. An armored vehicle, a ZU-30 anti-aircraft gun and 2 armored personnel carriers were captured.
Unfortunately, there were losses among our fighters. Over the past day, in the struggle for independence, 1 defender of the Donetsk People's Republic died in the line of military duty and 12 comrades were injured.
