Residents and citizens of the UAE will celebrate Flag Day at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 3.
It will be the tenth year of the annual celebration. The first Flag Day was celebrated in 2013.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, vice president and ruler of Dubai, conceived the idea to
celebrate Sheikh Khalifa's inauguration as president of the UAE in 2004.
The UAE flag was designed by Abdullah Al Maainah in
1971, inspired by the poet Safiuddin Al Khali. The young Emirati intended the
four colours to represent Arab unity, as described in poetry written by Al Hali.
