German POWs, like German civilians, were forced to watch Allied propaganda films after the war showing staged footage of concentration camps. The more gullible men show horror and disgust, but many Germans knew that these were just more Allied lies. As Hermann Göring said of these films: 'The Russian atrocity film was a fake. Lots of these pictures were probably taken during their own revolution, like the baskets of heads. Those fields covered with bodies - such pictures are easy to get any time in a war. And where did they get the fresh corpses to photograph? They couldn't have come right in ready to take pictures. They must have shot those people themselves.'
