Graphene-based nano-antennas could enable cooperating smart dust swarms
Smart dust. Utility nebula. Programmable matter. Grey and blue goo. Cooperating swarms of micrometre-sized devices (motes) offer entirely new solutions and possibilities that are hard to imagine.
Now researchers at Georgia Tech have invented a plasmonic graphene nanoantenna that can be efficiently deployed in the millimetre radio range, taking another step towards smart dust.
