Multiple choice listening tipsMultiple choice question during the IELTS listening test could be challenging. So how could we overcome these difficulties and stay calm during the real test?
Here is some advice to tackle this problem!
1 Listen to different podcasts. Listen to podcasts based on your interest area. If you are keen on sport, listen to sport review podcasts.
2 Avoid being a passive listener as being passive during the process doesn’t help you to be good at listening. Solution is to change the way you are listening to podcasts.
3 How could you turn yourself to an active listener? The answer is a cakewalk. While listening take a pen and paper to write down every piece of information you are listening to. This is called a listening dictation process. After a while, you are on a solid ground to make out what is what and for.
4 Usually, part 3 section involves discussions between 2 or 3 speakers. Distinguish voices (whether man or woman speaks). Pay attention the tone, adverbs or adjectives they are using. Feel empathy of the speech, context. The right answer you need is right there.
5 In section 4, you will listen to the lecture. Lectures usually follow rhetorical cues to help you follow the lecture. A rhetorical cue is a word or even a sentence that lets you know that some important information is coming or a new subtopic and point are being introduced.
