(= in my life up to now)
I went there in 1998 and 2002.
(= on two specific occasions)
I've bought a new computer.
(= I don't say exactly when, where, etc.)
I bought it last Saturday.
(= I say when)
When we don't specify a time → Present Perfect
When time is mentioned or understood → Present simple
