WAYS TO COMPLAIN ABOUT COLD WEATHER

IT’S COLD AS ICE
to say you’re feeling cold. You can also say “I’m cold”, obviously, or “It’s biting cold!”, meaning that it’s really cold.

IT’S NIPPY/CHILLY
“uncomfortably or unpleasantly cold”. Not an extreme, but not comfortable either.

THERE’S A NIP IN THE AIR
This is the same as “biting cold”, meaning “very cold”.

IT’S CRISP
cool, fresh, and invigorating, so it’s a pleasant temperature.

IT’S BRASS MONKEY WEATHER
“extremely cold”.

IT’S FREEZING
if it’s freezing cold, you’d better take some care of yourself, or else you’ll catch your death of cold and end up in bed!

IT’S FROSTY
the “frost” is the icy layer you can find on outdoor surfaces during a cold winter morning. So you can say “it’s frosty” to mean “it’s pretty damn cold”.

When we say “the dead of winter”, we’re referring to the coldest part of winter, which, needless to say, is usually horribly cold!
