A Fatah security source from Nablus addressed the death of Samer Khaled, the senior Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades military operative killed this morning in Nablus after being shot in the neck.

According to the source, Samer Khaled was sitting in the passenger seat of a car that arrived early in the morning in Balata (just southeast of Nablus - Abu Ali).

A group of masked armed men approached the vehicle, demanding the driver turn off the headlights and not enter the neighborhood after midnight (a common procedure among Palestinian militants, hoping to thwart the entry of undercover IDF forces - Abu Ali).

A verbal confrontation then took place between the two sides, ending up with the masked armed men shooting at the vehicle from behind from a distance of about 20-40 meters.

The source continued explaining that after that, one of the armed men (whose identity is known to the Palestinian security forces) opened the car door and hit the driver in the chest. He then noticed that Khaled sustained a gunshot wound and ordered the two be taken to Nablus' hospital, where Samer Khaled was later pronounced dead.
