“Writing intimately in a journal nearly daily has helped me ascend, refined my self-understanding, magnified my creativity considerably, upgraded my emotional fluency, hardwired a near-constant sense of gratitude and removed many of the stains that had been set on my soul.”

2022-01-18 09:23:49 Early action vs. Early decision vs. Regular decision | Explained

Give me a couple of minutes, i’ll try to briefly interpret the differences between them. (mmm let’s be honest it takes more than 2 minutes)

So, Early Action (EA)- is non-restrictive undergraduate admission process that allows you to apply to several schools EA. The deadlines early action applications come earlier than regular decision. Since you apply early, you'll also be notified of your admissions decision early. EA usually has a November deadline, with students receiving the school's decision by mid December. Main plus is that EA enables you to wait until May for a decision. Nonetheless, applying early has some potential drawbacks, including reduced financial aid opportunities and pressure to decide where to attend.

Early Decision (ED) - On the other hand, is binding, meaning that you can only apply to one college. In a nutshell, if you are admitted as an ED applicant must attend the college. Use ED only if you are certain of the college that you want to attend. If you decide to apply for early decisions, you should understand youre entering a binding agreement with the college. If you admitted, you must attend and pay a non-refundable commitment deposit up front (also you should withdraw all other colleges). Benefits is that ED helps you show the school your strong and sincere interest, like you’re saying to a school “you’re the one for me, i dont wanna go anywhere else, if you accept me i accept you, and we will be 2gether 4ever”. However, there’re some complications, ED : inhibits you ability to compare fin aid options, may force you to submit a less polished application, unless you begin your application well ahead of time, and locks you into a college, sometimes 9-10 or more months before school begins.

Regular Decision (RD) - is non-binding, you can apply to as many colleges/unis as you want. Apply through RD if : you dont have one favorite school, you need more time to raise your test scores (SAT/ACT), or you need a boost from additional accomplishments (volunteering, playing sports/instruments and etc.). RD college application deadlines are typically around the beginning of January. You have until the end of April to accept (May 1st is known as College Decision Day).

I do hope that you’ve found answers to your questions regarding these deadlines. As with many aspects of the admissions process, there isn’t one single answer that satisfies everyone. If this (post) doesn’t make much sense, it’s OK, u can visit Google.com
